Falling in love: Spend Valentines Day at the beach
February 1, 2017 by: Drew C. Foster
Call us romantics, but we love an old-fashion Valentines Day celebration here at Boreas Bed & Breakfast Inn. And why not? Sandy beach walks, Pacific Ocean sunsets, fresh Willapa Bay oysters – you’ll find all the ingredients for a romantic Valentines Day getaway right here on Washington’s Long Beach Peninsula.
Oysters have long been considered an aphrodisiac, and they grow in abundance in this corner of southwestern Washington. You’ll find some of the freshest, tastiest Pacific and Kumamoto oysters in the world grown on Willapa Bay. Buy them fresh at seafood markets like Ole Bob’s or Jessie’s Ilwaco Fish Company in Ilwaco, Sportsmen’s Cannery in Seaview, the Crab Pot: Seafood Market in Long Beach, Oysterville Sea Farms in Oysterville or Ekone Oyster Company in Bay Center. Find prepared oysters at many Peninsula and Pacific County restaurants.
And if oysters aren’t your thing – don’t worry, we aren’t offended! – you can find other traditional Valentines Day accoutrements throughout the county and Peninsula. Stop by The Long Beach Candy Man in downtown Long Beach to satisfy your sweetheart’s sweet tooth or place a special order with Pink Poppy Bakery or Cottage Bakery.
And then there’s the beach, just a short stroll from Boreas Inn. The Long Beach Peninsula’s 28 miles of silver sand are hand-holding, beach-strolling heaven. Walk the paved Discovery Trail between Ilwaco and Long Beach or meander along the wide-open beach as waves lap at the shore. Bring a blanket and enjoy a Pacific Northwest sunset.
Anyone wanting to add flowers to the mix can visit Artistic Bouquets & More, a lovely little florist in Seaview.
Finding a romantic meal might be the easiest endeavor of all. You'll enjoy a romantic, gourmet breakfast at Boreas Inn, for starters. After that, you have tons to choose from. From the award-winning Depot Restaurant in Seaview to the top-floor [pickled + fish], Peninsula eateries cater to every taste. Local restaurants range from fine to family-friendly, and almost all offer a casual, easy-going dining experience.
So spend Valentines Day at Boreas Bed & Breakfast Inn, where romance is just a road trip away.
